Flat lock panels with recess

We became involved in discussions with Sprout Architects, Healy Homes and the client at a very early design stage.

Open to creative ideas, our entire range of panel systems, materials and colours were considered.

The residence is situated right on the ocean foreshore, with high tide reaching its lower stairs so resistance against salt was critical.

Proven profiles, precious metals

A flat lock panel system with recess was chosen for its neutral simplicity and the sharp, neat look it would give the residence’s exterior.

The client desired the appearance of an ever-continuing form so the ability to fold external corners into the flat lock panels using flashings was another reason for the decision.

The majority of the application being either soffits or wall cladding below soffits made aluminium the metal of choice to avoid salt deposits and pitting.

It was decided to use zinc grey textured aluminium, partly because of its natural textured appearance, but also on account of its earthly and timeless tones. The material was also needed that would still work if the timbers were painted another colour in the future.

Lifelong value

The Cleveland residence works in synergy with its ocean surrounds.  Onlookers are sure to visualise the foreshore and the dwelling as a continuum.
